At most universities in Bangladesh, the chance to learn research properly at undergraduate or master’s level is limited. Thesis projects exist, but the opportunity to work on a genuinely new question often does not.

And research is a set of skills, not a subject you can read your way into. Reading a paper properly. Finding the question inside it. Sketching a way to an answer, failing, and going again. Writing the result clearly, visualising the data honestly, presenting it to people who will push back. These take time and patience to learn. Students who start a PhD without them spend their first years catching up — and students who have never done any of it struggle to get that far at all.

Abroad, undergraduates routinely join labs and start learning this early. Students in Bangladesh rarely get the same opening.

BSRI exists to make that opening. We pair students with researchers who came out of the same universities and are now doing doctoral, postdoctoral or industry research abroad — people who remember exactly which doors were hard to find, and who will tell you what the work actually involves.

We are not a university, an agency, or a paid service. Every mentor is a volunteer, and we make no promises about admissions or outcomes. What we offer is time, guidance, and an honest look at the work. You need no prior research experience — only curiosity and commitment.
